One Sleepy Baby

Wednesday night was one of those nights where you have too much going on to get anything accomplished. Kevin was trying to install the new dryer (which wasn't going very well...backwards hinges, broken vent hose etc.) Isabella needed a bath before stories and bedtime. The kitchen was a mess from dinner and the baby was crying. So, while I was tending to everything at once (well, almost everything-I mean I only have 2 hands!) poor Ione was left to fend for herself. After tirelessly trying to get some attention by babbling in her cute voice to no avail, she tried banging on the tray of her highchair; still no response from her busy, although loving, parents. A baby can only take so much, so she went into "yell" mode. Those of you who have spent any amount of time with this little firecracker know that she isn't crying, per se, just well, yelling. She tried several different pitches before mom finally dried her hands from bathing her big sister and went running to rescue her. Although I wanted to get her out, I still had just a couple more things to finish. So, naturally, I gave her some more "snacks." You know, those little star-shaped baby cereal pieces that dissolve quickly but get stuck like a sticky booger to whatever body part they cling to? Yeah, I gave her a mound of those. Just so I could finish a couple of things. Well, that quieted her right down for a good little while. It takes a lot of concentration to get such a small little star into such a small little mouth. Anyway, the next time I went to check on her, she had conked out. Poor thing just couldn't stay awake another minute. We're so lucky we have such a sweet and patient baby!
